The beginning of 2017-2018 found us preparing for a new and exciting MUN, that was IasiMUN2017 in Iasi, Romania. It was a unique experience for the 10th and 11th graders, who had the chance to attend their first Model of United Nations in this academic year and they are willing to attend many other similar events in the near future.
Therefore, a delegation of 13 students accompanied by two teachers were present between the 17th and 19th of November 2017 at the opening ceremony of IasiMUN 2017, which took place at the Emil Racovita High School in Iasi. Many delegations from across Romania were invited, among which we stood out thanks to our distinguished delegates, who represented important countries in different committees.
Antonia Grosu stated her viewpoint on IasiMUN: It was my third MUN and so far one of the best. Even though I was among the youngest delegates I managed to state my viewpoint and lead the conference in various key moments. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to another MUN!”.
Another distinguished voice among our participants was Razvan Turcu, student in the 10th grade: “It was a great honor for me to represent the Lauder delegation to the IasiMUN 201 and it was a real challenge for me , as well. I succeeded in not only improving my MUN knowledge, but also my social and debating skills. This activity was of great value for me and I hope to be able to attend other similar conferences in the years to come. All in all, it was a highly competitive and well –prepared MUN for me and overall an amazing experience . ”
Last but not least, Elena Becheanu believes that: “The experience at IasiMUN was a great opportunity for me to extend my knowledge in the MUN field. We had the chance to meet great delegates from different cities across Romania. We took part in some fruitful debates, solving problems concerning the whole world nowadays and we made the most of our time.”
All in all, IasiMUN was a successful event, where all the students who participated, managed to develop their diplomatic knowledge and practice their Public Speaking skills and also social skills while attending a distinctive MUN conference. They promise to come back again with the same enthusiasm and interest that they showed this year and with the hope of becoming better and well-prepared diplomats for the future.
