LAUDER-REUT ÎN EXPERIENȚA AMERICANĂ FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

În perioada 23 aprilie – 2 mai 2017, echipa de robotică RoboFALT antrenată și coordonată de doamna profesoară Rica Pintilie a participat la FIRST Championship – First Lego League etapa finală în Saint Louis, Missouri, S.U.A. Membrii echipei sunt elevi în clasele a VI-a – Andrei Ghinescu, Luca Oprescu, Maria Isailă, Brianna Duță – și a V-a B – Tudor Georgescu. Alături de cei de mai sus au participat și doamna profesoară Marilena Vîlciu (pregătirea finală a proiectului și a posterului) și doamna Alina Duță (părinte).

După un drum destul de lung, pe data de 24.04, la ora locală 1 a.m., am ajuns la hotelul Hilton Saint Louis at the Ballpark. Camerele erau la nivelul 16 și ne-au oferit o priveliște panoramică dominată de stadionul de baseball din vecinătate.

În primele două zile, înainte de începerea concursului, am avut câte 3 ore de pregătire a prezentărilor și apoi vizitarea unor obiective turistice. În prima zi, vizita la City Museum a fost o surpriză extrem de plăcută în special pentru copii: muzeul este în fapt o combinație extrem de reușită între o expoziție de lucrări din materiale urbane reciclate artistic și un parc de aventuri. Am rămas cu plăcute amintiri din peștera artificială, toboganele pe șase etaje, ieșirile surprinzătoare din nișe aflate la nivelul podelei, avioane cu bordul intact, locul de joacă cu mingi și o reproducere a lupului dacic. Și experiența unică de a ne învârti în titireze a fost de neuitat. Ziua a doua a venit cu momentul mult așteptat: vizita la Grădina Zoologică ne-a permis prima întâlnire cu un ursuleț panda roșu (care, de fapt nu e nici urs, nici panda). Proiectul nostru de cercetare pentru concurs era un mediu natural adaptat ca sanctuar pentru aceste animăluțe. De necrezut, dar timp de circa 30 minute, copiii noștri vioi și zburdalnici au vorbit numai în șoaptă și s-au mișcat cu maximă atenție pentru a nu speria ursuleții a căror timiditate o cunoșteau foarte bine. Au avut ocazia să admire mediile de viață adaptate pentru diverse animale și să discute cu voluntarii ghizi care cunoșteau locatarii grădinii zoologice ca pe buni prieteni.

Ziua a treia a adus și concursul. Am amenajat standul cu materialele realizate și transportate până la centrul de concurs cu sprijinul părinților participanților. Copiii și-au intrat repede în rol și au început să-și prezinte tuturor vizitatorilor produsele (robotul și proiectul) cu din ce în ce mai multă dezinvoltură. Au devenit repede o atracție. Cred că unul din cele mai interesante complimente a fost întrebarea unui vizitator: “În România engleza este limbă oficială?”. Chiar și în zilele următoare, când elevii erau la antrenamente, auzeam vizitatori: “Ieri ne-au explicat copiii atât de frumos și cu suflet despre urșii panda, păcat că n-ai fost și tu!”. Evident, fiecare dintre participanți a încercat să cunoască activitatea celorlalți competitori și s-au legat amiciții frumoase. Au avut loc și mult așteptatele meciuri amicale, care ne-au permis primele antrenamente. Din păcate, în hotel a fost imposibil să găsim suprafețe adecvate pentru planșa de competiție.

Zilele de concurs ne-au oferit emoții și realizări. Mai întâi au fost jurizate proiectul de cercetare științifică (Red Panda Forest), designul robotului Thor și posterul Core Values. Elevii s-au prezentat foarte bine, impresionând plăcut juriul, atât cu pregătirea pentru prezentările respective, cât și cu spontaneitatea răspunsurilor la întrebările și provocările juraților. Unul din răspunsurile copiilor la proba de poster ne-a ajuns la suflet. La întrebarea unui jurat ”Cum vă gestionați stresul în timpul activităților de echipă?”, Brianna a răspuns ”Îi avem mereu alături pe antrenori, care ne implică în jocuri, ne spun glume sau ne îmbărbătează, după caz.”.

A venit și ziua de vineri, 28 aprilie, ziua marilor meciuri. Echipa românească a început să zbârnâie între zona de concurs și cea de antrenament, programările antrenamentelor fiind aproape continue. Absolut toți copiii s-au implicat activ și cu tot sufletul în pregătiri, sub coordonarea profesoarei Rica Pintilie. La toate meciurile, echipa RoboFALT s-a prezentat onorabil.

Sâmbăta a urmat festivitatea de decernare a medaliilor care ne-a depășit orice așteptare: după ce am urcat cu toții pe scenă și am fost felicitați de jurați, la coborâre am bătut palma rând pe rând cu cei peste o mie de participanți la FLL! Seara am participat la festivitatea de închidere, o ocazie pentru a ne lua Rămas bun! de la Alexandra (o tânără de origine română care participa într-una din echipele canadiene la FTC), de la mama sa, precum și de la ceilalți participanți cu care copiii noștri s-au împrietenit.

Pe data de 30 aprilie am încercat să acoperim toate obiectivele vizate și ne-atinse până la momentul respectiv: vizitarea Gateway Arch, site-ul precolumbian Cahokia Mounds și un outlet de jucării. De mare ajutor ne-a fost doamna Duță care, cu acordul tuturor părinților, a închiriat un SUV pe care l-a condus chiar dumneaei. La Cahokia Mounds am vizionat filmul explicativ și am înțeles că ne aflăm pe locul celui mai mare oraș precolumbian din America de Nord. Apoi am avut ocazia să admirăm reconstituirea unui sat indian, movilele pe care se aflau sanctuarele și locuințele conducătorilor amerindieni. Am avut norocul ca vizita noastră să coincidă cu târgul nativilor americani, care au prezentat minunate obiecte artizanale. Următoarea oprire a fost la Gateway Arch, al doilea monument american ca dimensiune. După o lungă așteptare, am urcat cu trenul în capsulele sferice pentru cinci persoane, cele 60 nivele, vreme de 4 minute, până la înălțimea de 190m. Am admirat panorama întregului oraș Saint Louis, iar pe cealaltă parte, peste Mississippi, am văzut statul Ilinois pe care tocmai îl vizitasem.

Drumul de întoarcere acasă a fost mai lung decât ne așteptam. Din cauza condițiilor meteo, am fost redirecționați către Chicago, în loc de Washington. Iar următoarea escală, cea din Munchen, a durat peste 5 ore. Deși obositor, drumul a decurs fără incidente.

Experiența americană ne-a adus tuturor multe beneficii: cunoașterea unei lumi care s-a dovedit mult mai caldă și mai interesantă decât în filme, concursul care ne-a îmbogățit atât experiența competitivă cât și cunoștințele în domeniul roboticii și ale științelor, precum și o puternică motivație de a persevera și de a excela pentru a reveni în anii următori.

A fost o experiență frumoasă, care merită repetată și sperăm să ne mai calificam și la anul. Atmosfera de concurs a fost impresionantă. Principalul nostru câștig a fost că ne-am îmbogățit cunoștințele, ne-am făcut prieteni noi și am castigat experienta. […] Am vizitat multe locuri frumoase cum ar fi Gateway Arch și satul indienilor Cahokia Mounds, de unde am luat multe suveniruri și fluiere indiene.

FLL 2017 a fost o experiență de neuitat. Concursul a avut loc la Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. Acolo ne-am făcut foarte mulți prieteni și am învățat foarte multe lucruri de la celelalte echipe. Erau peste 100 de echipe și peste 300 de voluntari.

În prima zi, am fost la Muzeul orașului, care era un parc de distracții cu tot felul de obiecte reciclate. În a treia zi am fost să ne aranjăm standul și ne-am împărtășit ideile cu celelalte echipe și cu persoane care au venit să viziteze centrul de concurs. În a patra zi ne-am prezentat proiectele și in ziua următoare a fost competiția de roboți.

Pentru mine a fost o super excursie și m-am distrat super mult. Am avut unul din cele mai vizitate standuri și asta înseamnă foarte mult pentru mine.

Excursia din America a fost una dintre cele mai amuzante și fascinante excursii în care am fost vreodată. Îmi lipsesc zilele frumoase împreună cu colegii mei, glumele pe care le faceam și obiectivele turistice. In special ziua în care am mers în satul indienilor și ne-am cumparat toți tobe și fluiere și am inceput sa cântăm. Una dintre lucrurile cele mai importante este ca ne-am îmbunătățit engleza, am comunicat și ne-am făcut prieteni din alte țări, dar și pentru ca am castigat multa experienta. Pe scurt am iubit aceasta excursie!
